(The ducetto of this boat'll swear you've invited friends for the sole purpose of imposing their rules. Is not that what will satisfy their frustrations - so many that an aircraft carrier with 5,000 crew members would be insufficient. water: there is always too much of salt, a little too sweet. The first has to stand out of the boat (see anche “prese a mare”). La seconda, possibilmente, dentro. In altre parole: chiudi sempre i rubinetti dell’acqua dolce anche tra una passata di spazzolino da denti e l’altra e pensa che in fondo è lei l’artefice della tua pessima tintarella.
Albero : per farlo venire giù basta molto meno di una motosega (vedi voce Stralli)
Ancora , con l’accento sulla A: pesa sempre troppo, soprattutto se ti finisce su un piede. Se ti immergi a guardarla, lasciala stare dov’è. Altrimenti, quando risali, rischi di scoprire che la “tua” barca ha stabilito di andarsene. L’àncora non è un aratro ma ugualmente ara (vedi Arare)
Arare : succede all’ancora quando decide di non tenere più. Di solito capita di notte. La cosa normalmente sconvolge il Comandante (vedi) ma non coinvolge l’ospite. Se lo coinvolge, vuol dire che è troppo tardi.
Assicurare : vuol dire “legare”. Te lo assicuro.
Autoclave : è la pompa (vedi) dell’acqua (vedi) dolce. Con il suo ronzio ti segnala che ne stai usando troppa.
Babordo : con “tribordo” solo nei film dei pirati. Da noi si dice dritta (vedi) e sinistra (vedi).
Bagni : quelli in mare sono magnifici. Quelli della barca devono restarlo.

Murata : è il lato della barca, che ne ha due uno sopravento (vedi) e l’altro sottovento (vedi).
Porthole : together with the hatch (see) and skylights (see below) are the openings of the boat "above" sea level. In the navigation should be closed unless the Commander (see below) says otherwise. NB: gently.

Scotta : non c’entra la pasta. È la cima (vedi) che serve a regolare la randa (vedi) o la vela di prua, e che bruciacchia le mani.
Sigaretta : la cenere, che magari ancora brucia, ha un'abilità diabolica a infilarsi dagli oblò aperti, quindi fumate sempre sottovento e fuori dal well downwind (ie, when the wind comes from behind). The stub, if possible, not at sea: if there is no ashtray in a can with a little 'water is fine.
