Stato d'emergenza a Trieste. La Bora soffia a 140 km orari con punte fino a 170, causando parecchi problemi e danni alle cose e alle persone. Il paesaggio cittadino e dei dintorni di questi giorni prevede rami spezzati e alberi sradicati, tegole volate via dai tetti e vetri infranti, cassonetti che si schiantano improvvisamente sulle auto in corsa e persone sollevate da terra a few inches before being thrown to the ground seconds later. Even Ursus, a large floating crane, old relic of the industrial port of Trieste, broke its moorings and is drifting away in front of Piazza Unità with almost 80 meters high and 50 tonnes in weight.

Chi sono i sopravissuti? Cosa li distingue dagli altri? Solo un fatto: l'essere diversi, secondo vari criteri, ma pur sempre diversi dai veri figli di questa città.
Ranfo però annota sul diario che i superstiti (tra cui i bambini mancano del tutto) si dimenticano presto del tragico evento che hanno vissuto. Organizzano una festa che si trasforma presto in orgia. Non hanno imparato nulla. E il vento ricomincia to rise.

Chen started from a false pride of Trieste, the Bora, to put to shame some of the prejudices and clichés città e dei suoi cittadini: sedere sugli allori di un passato ormai andato, far finta di abbracciare il diverso da sè per poi dividersi su tutto, considerare il confine come un segno di apertura finendo invece per viverlo dentro di sé come una ferita, abbracciare quella conventicola piuttosto che un'altra solo per darsi una risposta preconfezionata e tranquillizzante alle tante domande.
Sono vent'anni che vivo a Trieste, ma non mi son ancora abituato alla Bora......
